Cricklade is the first town on the Thames and the southern gateway to the Cotswolds. The town has such a lot to offer from North Meadow, a National Nature Reserve and home to the snakeshead fritillary, to the 112 listed buildings on the quintessentially English High Street. Steeped in history the town is one of just a few preserved Saxon Towns.
Within these pages you will find details of the community spirit that makes Cricklade a special place to live, together with a summary of the rich and varied history of the town and also information about the reason why the town motto ‘in loco delicioso’ (which translates as ‘in a delightful place’) is so apt.
